Community Guidelines

Voxo connects you with people you did not choose. These rules keep that a good experience for everyone.

Last updated: October 2026

Be decent to each other

You are talking to a human being. Treat them with the same respect you would want when someone is practising a language with you.

What is not allowed

  • Harassment, insults, threats or sexual content.
  • Hate speech or discrimination of any kind.
  • Spam, advertising, scam attempts or asking for contact details to move the conversation elsewhere.
  • Impersonating somebody else or pretending to be a language teacher you are not.
  • Recording, screenshotting or streaming another member without their consent.
  • Any sexual interest in minors, or any attempt to find out the age of a minor.

Respect the microphone

  • Join a conversation only when you are actually able to talk.
  • Do not play music, television or other audio through your microphone.
  • Keep background noise low. Headphones help a lot.
  • Mute yourself when you are not speaking.

If something goes wrong

Every member has a report button and a block button inside a room. A block is immediate and permanent: that person will never be matched with you again, and you will not see each other in the same room. A report is reviewed by the Voxo team, and serious violations lead to removal from the platform.

You are always allowed to leave a conversation without giving a reason. Nobody has to justify changing their mind.

The English-only rule

Voxo exists to practise English, so conversations in rooms and Quick Talks are expected to be in English. Helping a partner with a word or a grammar question is always fine — that is the point of the platform.

Consequences

Members who break these rules can be warned, temporarily suspended or removed. Repeated reports against the same account are taken seriously, and so are reports made in good faith.
