The short version: Voxo does not record your voice, does not show your email to anyone, and gives you control over what other members can see.

The optional text chat inside a room is not stored. Messages are relayed in real time to the other members of the room and are kept only in the browser session of the people who were there. They disappear when the room closes.
While you are using Voxo, a heartbeat tells the database that you are online so that other members can see that somebody is available. It stores your user id and the time of the last heartbeat — nothing else — and entries that are more than a couple of minutes old are treated as offline and removed.
Your profile privacy settings decide what other members see. You can hide your country, hide your English level, switch off the public list of people who are online, or stop taking part in Quick Talk altogether. When you are in a room, the other members of that room can see your display name, and that is the only place where they can see it.
You can edit your profile and your privacy settings at any time, and you can block or report other members. To request a copy of your data or to delete your account, contact the Voxo team. Deleting your account removes your profile, your conversation metadata and your blocks and reports.
Voxo uses Supabase for authentication, database and realtime messaging, and it is hosted on Vercel. A TURN relay may be used to establish a call when a direct connection is not possible; a TURN relay sees the connection metadata of the call, and it never stores the audio it forwards.
